It feels like just yesterday I was buying tickets to one of my first festivals – Good Vibrations 2009 – and getting way too excited at the prospect of seeing arguably the best live hip hop band, The Roots, in real life. If any of you are seasoned vets, like myself, you may also recall the bitter disappointment when, just before the festival run began, it was announced they would retire from touring indefinitely, as they scored the gig as Jimmy Fallon’s house band.
Now, I don’t hold grudges but every little heartbreak lingers in some way. So you can understand how I might be a little (read: a lot) excited at the prospect of actually seeing them live, following a teaser Tweet via group leader/drummer ?uestlove’s account.
@TheRoots will be in Aussie day after Xmas for a week in 2013 RT: @newtimeshobart hey quest are you coming down under anytime?

Thanks to ‘That Guy’ for posing the question and make sure you’ve got the last week of December free. Obviously, there are pretty much no other details about their Aussie plans, but we will definitely be keeping an ear to the street…and ?uest’s Twitter feed.
